Thank you and WiFiBandit for posting those links, though so depressing. When you are away from the Borg for awhile, it's shocking to notice again just how terribly suppressing and limiting it all is...

Not to mention mind-numbingly repetitive... What a terribly sad and unnatural way for kids to grow up, and for anybody to live, so tightly controlled and insulated.

I couldn't help but notice this point from the outline and how hypocritical they are: "...Jesus was a loving shepherd, not someone who rigidly insisted on numerous rules..."

Uber Cart Witnessing at the State Fair

last thursday i bunch of us working decided we were going to head down to the state fair and badge our way in to get a fletcher's corny dog for lunch.

we had to go to a specific gate to park and show our credentials to get in.

this meant driving halfway around the perimeter of the entire fairgrounds.

A Visit from the JWs, knocking at our door...!

ha, another visit from the jws.... thankfully they are few and far between (seem to roll around whenever the co visits or is about to visit...)an elder and his wife, presenting the magazines and inviting us to the talks, which are "so encouraging".

he had the saddest, most hang-dog expression, as he bemoaned these last days, so critical to deal with, and how the world was getting so terrible, things are so bad, blah blah blah, and every time i looked at her, she smiled encouragingly at me with that bright-eyed, put-on "sincere" smile.

i thanked them for coming, and said, "i appreciate you thinking about us" (after they said how the "missed us" at the meetings, ugh) -- "but we know where the kingdom hall is if we decide to go back.

Oh, and Ponyo -- I hope the last part of my post didn't sound creepy! lol

Despite my user name, I am female, and happily married (and so thankful that hubby is also OUT!!!)

I realized that asking "which part of my reply gave you shivers" (your words!) might sound strange if you were thinking I were a man. Haha. It is a common misunderstanding, as I inadvertently named myself after a male blues legend.... but at the time I began posting, the "clear waters of truth" were very muddied and mixed up for me. Hence my name. :)

And we never know what people's triggers are, or which things specifically wake them up. So yes, I was wondering which things I said that you might have also agreed with or which resonated with you.

since i don't have you,i conjure up an image thatis both real and ideal.. what i do recall is etched in sharp relief, but deeply, in dark caverns of my mind.. the heart is a better well of reminiscence as it draws upan intangible but true past.. a newfound, tranquil corner inme reassures that love, thoughgone missing, is never lost..

I've been feeling a little blue, and having lost my momma a few years back was such a life-changing experience for me, coupled with my present poor health.

I was with her when she died, and so thankful that I was there, as difficult as it was. But it's made me question so many things....

Anyway.

Why I get out of bed every morning.

because someone needs my help.. as a jw -- you can relate -- i truly believed that what everyone really needed was the kingdom hope and its eventual reality.

you know, the hope that does not lead to disappointment.

of course, if anyone needed practical help with a task or getting through some difficulty, most of us realized that was part of being a helpful and caring friend (or family member).. at nearly seventy years of age -- no, i didn't enter the promised kingdom in my healthful and vibrant youth -- my getting out of bed isn't so bad.

Yes, random acts of kindness (RAK) are great!
We never know whom we might affect by our words, behavior, actions...

(And geez, I sound so JW-ish above!! "How fulfilling to know that..." eep!! LOL) I'm glad you heard my words the way I meant them. :D

"Cultivate Self-Control"

this weeks watchtower study (september 2017) about self-control states: "clearly, people who lack self-control are causing problems for themselves and for others.

and the problem of lacking self-control is worsening.

self-discipline was studied in the 1940’s, but recent studies have shown that people have become much worse at exercising self-discipline.

Do you know, there were times I would get so annoyed at the Watchtower's refusal to NAME quotes and references. Why would they not want us to look up anything?? It was so blatantly obvious that they would do all our thinking and research for us, and spoon feed it to us (at the proper time!) As a good little sheep, I tried to stay meek and humble and accept the direction and spiritual feeding program from "Jehovah's Organization" (ugh!) and so I (usually) accepted that we should trust our food implicitly... without question... (more ugh!)

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if those "studies" to which the WT is referring shows up or if they are merely going by their *own* "research" -- bias, experiences and anecdotes.

i reckoned that a comment by muddy waters in his latest post deserved a separate consideration - especially for active/fading j.w.'s..

's who called on him, parroted out the org's message of doom from 2 timothy 3:1-5 to remind him how bad the world is and that it showed that we are living in the last days.. a former elder/p.o.

once told me that he hated it every time the wtbts falsely applied these verses to the 20-21st century.

No worries, Fall Guy! In retrospect I probably shouldn't have selected a name of a *male* blues singer! lol

At the time I began posting, the "clear waters of truth" were no longer so crystal and pure...

Anyway, I appreciate your research and comments as to those "critical times hard to deal with.." -- another big new thought for me about something I thought I'd previously understood....!

Clue re approach to Annual Report in Jan 2018 MWB

Hahaha, I can just imagine a pioneer saying, "Hmmm... You know, I can't recall having an outstanding experience in the field ministry this past year..."

Eager Elder: "Well, how about in previous years? Surely there's something..."

Pioneer: "Not really... 'Outstanding experiences are so far and few between, and if I did have one, have probably used it already ...."

Elder: "Well, how about somebody ELSE'S experience..? Surely you've heard something said by someone..."

Pioneer: "Hmm, not really... It really has dried up out there and nobody's ever home... "

Desperate Elder: "Hmmm... Perhaps we can find something from the YEARBOOK!"

Wow, that is very interesting, Fall Guy! Never ever heard that scripture applied THAT WAY, even though explained in the Insight book.
